DODGE COUNTY JOB POSTING: EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

POSITION TITLE: EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

DATE OF CLOSING: Open Until Filled

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Superintendent

HOURS: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

(Summer Hours: Monday – Thursday, 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

POSITION FOCUS: Highway Maintenance Work

WAGE RANGE: $25.73 - $30.58

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operates equipment engaged in highway maintenance, repair and construction activities including tandem trucks, tractors, oil distributor, mowers and similar equipment.
• Performs daily maintenance checks on assigned equipment prior to leaving shop in the morning and again when returning at the end of the day.
• Performs various manual labor duties as required.
• As mechanic helper, assists and participates in equipment repair activities and performs variety of servicing duties.
• May perform various shop maintenance and welding duties as required.
• May assist on engineering survey crews as required; performs other work as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Answer to a 24-hour on-call demand during snow removal season, and perform strenuous work under varying conditions. Knowledge of operating procedures of assigned equipment. Skills in operating light to medium road maintenance equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Class B Minnesota Driver’s License and no major traffic violations for last 3 years. Two years experience operating tandem trucks and other light to medium maintenance equipment. High School Diploma or GED. Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and criminal background check.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to lift and carry objects weighing over 50 pounds. Manual dexterity and motor coordination are required for the variety of jobs performed. Navigate rough terrain on foot. Work will be dirty and hazardous at times.
