Wiregrass Construction Company has an immediate opening for an Asphalt Equipment Operator for our Murfreesboro, TN, location. As an Asphalt Equipment Operator, you should be proficient in operating a combination of the following: Shuttle-Buggy, Skid-Steer, Milling Head, Broom, and Backhoe. As part of the Paving Team, you are expected to perform assigned responsibilities, complete general tasks assigned by Foreman or Leadman, work safely with your focus on the tasks that need performed, speak up when others are performing work that is unsafe or lacks quality, do your part to perform any portion of work that will contribute to the overall quality of the product, be a part of the solution daily that will assist in the success of the crew. Shift is typically day shift, with weekend and/or night shift work, depending on job scheduling and weather conditions. Pay is based on experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

· Maintaining jobsite cleanliness.

· Safely operates buggy, skid-steer, milling head, backhoe, and/or broom

· Be aware of surroundings and items in blind spots for all equipment. (People, powerlines, other equipment, and etc.)

· Know how and where to dispose of material with each piece of equipment.

· Don’t sweep, mill, or dump into yards, driveways, gutters, travel lanes, and etc.

· Dispose of waste daily on trucks. Do not pile on job.

· Know proper filling procedure for shuttle buggy. Complete Daily Equipment Inspection, turn in inspection sheet to foreman, and perform maintenance to ensures that equipment is in safe, proper working order including checking fluid, hydraulic, and grease. Report to supervisor when maintenance and repair is needed.

· Keeps equipment clean

· Park equipment as determined by foreman so that equipment is in a safe spot for the traveling public, lowboy drivers, and for daily fuel service.

· Assist in layout

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications include:

•Two (2) years of asphalt paving experience preferred.

•Must be able to effectively motivate/manage subordinates, to foster a safe and productive work environment.

•Must be able to physically meet job expectations.

•Must have the ability to work in a team setting and establish collaborative peer relationship.
•Strong written and oral communication skills
•Ability to multitask, and meet deadlines
•Strong organizational skills
•Ability to engage employees professionally and respectfully, and be team oriented
•Satisfactory MVR and must meet minimum company standards on driver qualification
•Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check as well as a pre-employment drug screening
