ER Patient Access Representative Job at Evangelical Community Hospital

Typical Work Schedule: Days & Evenings (possible schedules: 1pm-11pm, 2pm-12am, 4:30pm-2:30am; rotating weekends & holidays)
Primary Shift: 2
Full Time Equivalent: 1.0 (full-time, 80 hours biweekly)

Position Purpose:
The ER Patient Access Representative welcomes patients to Evangelical Community Hospital. In doing so, this person will accurately gather, verify, and record all pertinent information required to comply with medical regulations and to produce correct statistical information. The Representative will also verify all tests and procedures ordered to ensure they meet medical necessity criteria and verify insurance benefits for all patients.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior customer service experience required.
- Medical terminology and medical billing course preferred.
- Registration experience preferred.
Pennsylvania state police criminal record check, child abuse history clearance, and an FBI criminal history check required.
Typical Working Environment and/or Conditions:
- Involves direct close patient contact 10.00%
- Pushing/pulling wheelchairs, stretchers & equip up to 50lbs 10.00%
- Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Unloading Equipment up to 100lbs 10.00%
- Frequently required/prolonged sitting, standing or walking 65.00%
- Stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl/climb stairs/ladders/small spaces 10.00%
