The Southwest Service Center (an ASSA ABLOY company) is a manufacturer of steel doors and frames for the commercial and industrial markets. Our facility based in Ontario, California is looking to add a motivated Estimator 1 to its team.

What would you do as our Estimator?

In this role, you will prepare quick and accurate turnaround quotes for our distributors and customers, utilizing existing pricing information. The Estimator facilitates job requirements as it relates to doors, frames and hardware preparations, shipping, project problems and field inspections.


You would also:

  • Quote entry into Trackpoint, utilizing the internal pricing matrix, considering product capabilities and limitations.
  • Prepare complete and accurate estimates for the customer using both computer software and pricing tools.
  • Verify drawings for accuracy, manufacturability, specification requirements and coordination of hardware, door and frames for functionality and label capabilities.
  • Communicate with customers on discrepancies and/or application conflicts.
  • Interpret templates, review quotes for elevations to prepare for entering into Protek for quoting.
  • Actively participate in providing a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees.
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate governance policies, regulations and laws, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.

The Skills and Experience you need:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year estimating experience, preferably in the hollow metal door openings industry, direct customer and contractor contact desired.
  • General understanding of the construction industry, preferably the commercial construction industry.
  • Some understanding of building codes and labeling requirements are required.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as customer orders, shop drawings, and templates in English.
  • Ability to read, interpret and manage specifications and hardware schedules.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must know, understand, and utilize basic mathematical formulas.
  • Excellent computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Protek desired.
  • Experience with TrackPoint, OrderPro or comparable a plus.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, email and order processing software; Knowledge of ERP systems and processes.
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written

Starting Pay: up to $23.58/hour.
