Summary

University of Michigan Department of Physics will be hosting a major conference for undergraduate women in STEM in January 2024. We are looking for someone with excellent organizational skills and a love of event planning to help us make this a meaningful and memorable experience for our participants! Duties will include creating planning timelines, securing venues, working with vendors, arranging catering, managing event agendas and logistics, organizing paperwork for reimbursements, planning those little extras that make an event special, and most of all serving as the hub of organization and communication for our team of students, faculty, and staff who will be helping with the conference. When time allows, additional duties could include general administrative and office support. Work is in-person, 10-20 hours/week. Hours may be flexibly scheduled to meet your needs, so long as they are between 8:30 and 5pm, M-F. Additional hours will be needed in January 2024 during the conference. This temporary position is expected to end in February 2024.

Required Qualifications*

Minimum educational level of high school graduation or the equivalent and a track record of excellent teamwork and organizational skills.

Desired Qualifications*

Experience in event planning, experience in higher education, experience in office administrative support, history of great teamwork, superb organizational skills, and excitement about creating a great event. Knowledge of University systems, policies and procedures is preferred but not required.
