About Us

The Alpine Resort is a historic Door County Wisconsin stay and play destination, located just south of Egg Harbor. Known for its stunning natural beauty and relaxed environment, the Alpine Resort is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. The property encompasses nearly half a mile of shoreline, with picturesque bluffs, stunning waterfront along Lake Michigan’s Green Bay, one of Door County’s most scenic golf courses, and the iconic resort itself.

The Alpine is a historic resort with a special 100-year history. Under new management, plans are in place to restore the main lodge, improve the golf course, and rejuvenate the waterfront. Future expansion plans will offer a variety of dining and lodging accommodations, as well as other recreational activities along the waterfront.

Position Summary

The Catering Manager will ensure that all internal contracts, invoices, and event orders are prepared in a timely manner. Service events at various venues. Build relations with customers, the community and local businesses to drive event sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Communication with prospective clients to promote banquet/catering services
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with local event sites
  • Preparing/reviewing event contracts with clients for all events booked using established room minimums and guest guarantees; reiterating in contract form all specified details concerning event
  • Advising and recommending to clients menu selections and set-up; executing catering menus by consulting with Catering/Banquet Chef to select potential menus; evaluating past popularity of menu options and availability of seasonal food ingredients
  • Working closely with the Chef to assure proper costing and food totals; minimizing waste by anticipating food consumption and estimating cost of ingredients
  • Arranging for all related amenities with outside vendors negotiating for best price for clients; placing orders with suppliers; scheduling delivery of fresh food and beverages; receiving and checking the content of deliveries by evaluating the quality of meats, poultry, fish, fruits, vegetables, and baked goods
  • Communicating details of events to management & staff
  • Representing the company at trade association meetings, Chamber of Commerce, and other fairs to promote banquet/catering sales
  • Identifying current/future customer service requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements
  • Maintaining customer satisfaction by investigating and resolving customer complaints
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Minimum High School education, some college preferred
  • Previous customer service skills and sales/catering experience, in a fine dining or hotel preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondences, and memos; ability to write business correspondences and set up contracts and function sheets
  • Ability to professionally present promotional materials to prospective customers, and to effectively communicate and coordinate with catering, kitchen staff, and outside vendors
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts for customer catering contracts

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
