Facilities Project Engineer

Overview of Position:

The Facilities Project Engineer supports the manufacturing facility environment by completing facility related tasks relating to sustaining the facility, maintenance, power systems, utilities. Including electrical, pneumatic, water, HVAC, and hydraulic along with equipment specification, selection, installation, and maintenance of fixed as well as mobile equipment. The position will also require some design tooling and fixturing for the manufacture of the company’s products. Equipment evaluation and maintenance, including evaluation of new equipment needs, specification, recommendation, and installation. Works with production and management to determine facility and manufacturing needs. The candidate should be versed in the principles of Total Productive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, LEAN Manufacturing, welding, machining, CAD, CAM, and Quality (ISO-9000, 14000, etc.).


Description of Duties/Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Shall be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Shall be able to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Should be familiar with maintenance of utility systems, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and welding
  • Should be familiar with a variety of manufacturing processes and methods
  • Ability to analyze plans, power distribution requirements, space requirements, and workflow.
  • Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Confer with planning and design staff concerning plant layout and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
  • Confer with vendors and suppliers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Estimate timelines, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
  • Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
  • statistical methods to estimate future facility requirements and needs

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Requires one to three years experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Requires the ability to function as a team member and contribute to group goals
  • Requires the ability to use typical office equipment and software such as spreadsheet and word processing, calculator, telephone, photocopier, and a computer printer
  • Requires ability to use design software such as AutoCad and Inventor
