Facility Technician – PART-TIME
Position Summary
The Facility Technician is responsible for regular maintenance of the church facilities, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and proper operations in support of the mission and vision of SUMC. The position performs general building maintenance, including a wide range of basic facility management and repair functions, including daily inspections of needed repairs. Tasks are coordinated and performed through a work order system for requirements and requests. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the strong organizational/time management skills needed to be successful in this role. The position works closely with the staff and lay leadership to support the ongoing operations and functionality of the church.
DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
As a member of the professional staff of SUMC, the position will perform the duties herein specified in relationship with the Pastors, other staff members, and lay leadership.
Result #1: Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees while performing all work in compliance with environmental permits, code requirements, and regulations
Result #2: Survey buildings and repair facility needs and mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with operation demands
Result #2: Work with, maintain and repair building equipment and systems, including HVAC, temperature control, and building automation systems
Result #3: General structural facility and grounds maintenance and upkeep performed, such as
(painting, carpentry, fixing locks, window repair, filter replacement, etc.)
Result #5: Perform maintenance and basic troubleshooting of electrical systems (replace light bulbs, receptacles, breakers, etc.)
Result #6: Maintain heating and plumbing fixtures to ensure functionality, such as repairs and leaks
Result #7: Responsible for maintenance of the entire campus, including the Childcare Center
Result #8: Preventative maintenance schedules will be kept and implemented accordingly
Result #9: Repair and maintain any minor problems in buildings or furniture and equipment
Result #10: Monitor heating and cooling systems and the building security systems
Result #11: Assist in coordinating and scheduling contracted services for escort and building access needs for essential building inspections and preventive maintenance (HVAC systems, elevator, first aid stations, fire code requirements, etc.)
Result #12: Ensure all meeting areas are arranged as requested and cleaned and set up for the next function
Result #13: Ensures parking lots are well marked and in good repair
Result #14: Holds special events, on-call, and emergency responsibilities
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
As a member of the professional staff of SUMC, the position will perform the duties herein specified in relationship with the Pastors, other staff members, and lay leadership.
Result #15: Coordinate and complete all facility and maintenance requests
Result #16: Write and submit detailed and accurate incident reports ensuring to report any problems or concerns to the Senior Pastor and the Chair of the Board of Trustees
Result #17: Be swift to respond and act, keeping a watchful eye on church campus activity
Result #18: Conduct routine safety and security inspections
Result #19: Keep a daily log of all positional activities and actions
Result #20: If on Church Campus after normal work hours, secure all doors before leaving
Result #21: Prepare and maintain a manual that contains all applicable contact numbers
Result #22: Display general working knowledge of maintenance equipment and understanding of and experience reading technical manuals
Result #23: Familiarity with building fire suppression systems

MINIMAL OPERATIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
As a member of the professional staff of SUMC, the position will perform the duties herein specified in relationship with the Pastors, other staff members, and lay leadership.
Result #34: High School Diploma/GED
Result #35: Valid driver’s license
Result #36: Experience in any of the following areas: electrical, AC, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, or landscaping
Result #37: Ability to lift 50 pounds

Time Commitment: 12 hours per week (opportunity for additional hours)
Pay Rate: $17+ depending on experience

Organizational Relationship and Supervision: The Facility Technician reports directly to the Senior Pastor, who will, in cooperation with the Associate Pastor (HR Coordinator) and the Staff Parish Relations Committee, provide an annual performance evaluation. The Facility Technician will be subject to the United Methodist policy, doctrine, and local church policy as determined by the Charge Conference, Senior Pastor, and Staff Parish Relations Committee.
