Position Description Summary:
The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA), an independent, academic, non-profit clinical practice group affiliated with the George Washington University (GWU) is seeking a full-time faculty member to join the Division of Plastic Surgery with a focus on breast reconstruction and microsurgery. The Division does about 70-80 free flaps per year, mainly for breast reconstruction and lower extremity reconstruction, with numerous additional pedicled flaps for extremity and trunk/wound reconstruction. In addition, it has a growing lymphatic surgery program and is currently performing immediate lymphatic reconstruction and offering lymph node transfer and LVA for appropriate patients. This non-tenure track appointment will be made at a rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) commensurate with academic experience and accomplishments.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be replacing a retiring plastic surgeon with a built-in large breast reconstruction referral base. Candidates interested in working in a team atmosphere will be joining a collegial group of surgeons and will work with residents, PA students, and medical students affiliated with GWU’s School of Medicine & Health Sciences. Additional opportunities will be available for general plastic surgery, lower extremity reconstruction, and wound care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in plastic surgery at the time of appointment. Applicants must have demonstrated microsurgery experience as documented by clinical expertise, peer references, or fellowship training in microsurgery, excellence in teaching as evidenced by teaching evaluations, and in research as evidenced by scholarly publications or works in progress, and excellence in clinical care as evidenced by experience, fellowships, and references. Applicants must also be eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia.
