Job Overview:*
The Family Interaction Support Specialist is responsible for working directly with clients who have various physical, psychological, and / or emotional problems to provide services that ensure safety, permanence, and well-being. The Division of Milwaukee Child Protective Services contracts with Wellpoint to provide child welfare services to about 900 families including nearly 1,200 children.

Qualifications:*

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Associates Degree or sixty (60) credits equivalent in Human Services/Social Work or related field preferred.
• Some experience working with children and families preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required.
• Ability to provide supervision to child(ren) between the ages of newborn and 17 years old.
• Ability to apply trauma informed care practices.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when reading, typing, or hearing matters pertaining to clients.
• Ability to maintain accurate, current case record documentation.
• Proficient in the usage of computer software; demonstrate an understanding of computer file systems and computer software packages, e.g., Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Teams, ADP, etc.
• Must be honest, dependable, and able to meet deadlines; Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
• A valid Wisconsin Driver’s License or occupational driver’s license, reliable transportation and insurance is required.

Duties:*
Family Interaction Support - Provides culturally appropriate services in a manner that recognizes, affirms, and values the worth of children, individuals, families, and communities, protecting and preserving the dignity of each person. Supervises visits between parents, children, and relatives during gap before Supervised Visitation Agency accepts referral. Attend and/or provide transportation for client appointments including, but not limited to medical/dental, mental health, school, and others as needed and scheduled.
Documentation & Recordkeeping - Records interactions in case file and other supporting documentation as well as accurate, professional, and timely documentation in summaries, assessments, and paperwork.
