FAMILY SERVICE WORKER Job at Community Action Council Of Howard County Md Inc
At the Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC), we have a mission to diminish poverty and enable self-sufficiency for all Howard County individuals, families, and children in need. We take action towards this mission by focusing on four critical services: housing assistance, food assistance, energy and weatherization assistance, and early childhood education. CAC impacts our local society by changing lives and helping create a pathway through and out of poverty or just providing a hand up when one is needed.
CAC is looking for a Family Service Worker to join our Early Childhood Education (ECE) department. This individual will work closely with the family and community engagement team and be responsible for enrolling eligible families, working cross-departmentally to ensure families receive all necessary services, and coaching parents on their personal and professional goals. The ideal candidate for this position will be comfortable representing CAC's two-generation approach to external stakeholders at outreach and community partnership events. The family service worker needs vital emotional intelligence to help grow and develop CAC's scaling programs.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting families with completing Head Start enrollment application
Participates in all year round recruiting for families
Acts as a liaison amongst internal teams at CAC to ensure that all clients are receiving comprehensive services
Conducts proper case management to include inputting and updating all family files based on agency standards
Analyzes, monitors, and tracks report for ECE and family engagement to facilitate the planning of school readiness goals.
Responsible for planning and implementing ECE outreach and family engagement events and maintaining relationships with community partners.
Establishing Family Partnership Agreements with famiilies
Able to effectively manage a caseload of 30 or more families
Actively participate in Self-Assessment
Assist in Selction Process and plaemt of chdren
Monitor attendance of children on case load
Mke perodic home visits
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with major course work in the social or behavioral sciences, social work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
1+ years of case management experience
Valid driver's license
Able to work in an agile and evolving work environment
Able to work independently and collaboratively with others
Strong computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams
Preferred Qualifications:
CAP60
Project management experience
Early childhood education experience
