Job Summary for FEA / Computational Engineer:

SURVICE Engineering is seeking a Computational Analyst with experience in FEA solving complex physics problems and applying advanced FE modeling techniques.

In support of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Analysis Center, the selected candidate will develop high-fidelity finite element (FE) models, with emphasis on mesh generation, to perform a variety of physics-based structural and dynamic analyses of ground vehicle systems, sub-systems, and occupants. Execute modeling and simulation methodologies using standard and advanced finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes such as LS-Dyna, CTH, Hyperworks, and CUBIT. Types of analyses performed can include, but not be limited to, modeling of underbody blast impingement on a vehicle, ammunition compartmentation survivability mitigation, penetration, warhead performance, and/or hypervelocity characterization.

Required Skills: The successful candidate will be experienced in FEA solving complex physics problems and applying advanced FE modeling techniques.

Preferred qualifications include:
  • Computational analyst with direct or related experience in FEA and/or CFD in the areas of blast, fragmentation, penetration, hypervelocity, and/or thermal protection systems.

  • Familiarity with CAD and CAD software packages (e.g., ProE or SolidWorks).

  • Experience with mesh generation and development of complex geometries at the component and system level utilizing programs such as Hypermesh, CUBIT, or similar.

  • Familiarity with one or more scripting language (e.g., Python).

  • Experience working in High-Performance Computing (HPC) system environments.

  • Bonus: knowledge of military systems, live-fire testing and analysis, anthropomorphic test devices (ATDs), occupant survivability, and/or verification and validation techniques and procedures.
