As a Federal & International Government Affairs Representative, you will be:
  • Building and managing Chevron relations with senior government officials who are responsible for U.S. relations with countries from Europe and the Middle East. This will require leading Chevron’s engagements with senior officials in both Congress and the executive branch including the U.S. Departments of State, Commerce, Energy and the White House as well as with Senators and Representatives on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committees. This person must also manage Chevron relations with senior foreign diplomats from countries in the Middle East and Europe where Chevron has a presence or is working to develop a presence. The successful candidate will be expected to brief senior Chevron executives on the policy priorities of both USG and foreign governments that might have an impact on Chevron’s plans and operations; this will include staffing the CEO and members of the ELT in their engagements with senior government officials described in this section. This representative will manage Chevron relations with relevant country-specific/regional business associations and think tanks that help shape policies that affect Chevron’s planning and operations.
  • Supporting and advising Chevron’s Chief Information Security Officer and team on federal policies related to cybersecurity. This will include help in building and maintaining relations with U.S. officials in the Department of Homeland Security. This person will represent Chevron on the various trade-association subcommittees that formulate industry positions and policies on matters relating to cybersecurity to ensure Chevron’s position are reflected and that the associations are aligned in their advocacy positions.
  • Lead the Washington DC Office’s advocacy on federal and international tax matters in close collaboration with Chevron’s Managing Tax Counsel and team. This element will require building and developing relations with senior officials in the U.S. Department of Treasury as well as with members and staff of both the House Ways & Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee.
  • Advise senior Chevron executives in Business Development on policies that might affect their plans and negotiations related to OPG (Oil, Products and Gas) opportunities in the Middle East and Europe. This work will be in close collaboration with the Chevron Brussels Office.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading successful advocacy efforts at the U.S. federal or international level.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing and managing successful advocacy plans that pertain to energy policy.
  • Superior communications skills, including the ability to brief senior executives and senior government officials.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely and effectively with trade associations and business organizations.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. energy and foreign policy processes, within the executive branch and within Congress.
  • Familiarity with energy issues in both Europe and the Middle East.
  • Familiarity with U.S. policies that might affect the energy sector in the areas of tax, international trade and cybersecurity.
  • Experience utilizing external communications as well as grassroots/tops efforts in shaping advocacy outcomes.
