What will you be doing? The Technician is primarily responsible for assisting the engineering team in performing field work including construction observation, surveying, confined space entries, assisting in the preparation of equipment for field work, as well as maintaining equipment and the warehouse. Duties will also include locating water meters, obtaining data including vault location/siting, vault size and type, pipe material, and obtaining photographic records, successful candidate must be able to prepare electronic reports to capture meter data.

Project Execution

  • Communicates status of work assignments to the designated project manager.
  • Completes all assigned tasks within the allotted time; raise concerns when allotted time is inadequate for the assigned tasks.
  • Reviews project documents, including health and safety plans, operating and maintenance manuals, technical instructions, and standard procedures. Executes work assignments in accordance with these documents.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of V&A’s standard procedures.

Construction Management

  • Attendance at preconstruction and progress meetings.
  • Material and equipment submittal review.
  • Review and approval of pay requests.
  • Construction contract administrative support.
  • Observation of construction.
  • Review of contractor as-builts.
  • Assistance with preparing final certifications.
  • Compliance with asset management requirements.

Technical Services

  • Supports the project team in the performance of fieldwork such corrosion testing, condition assessments, flow monitoring, smoke testing, odor data collection, field reconnaissance, surveying, and construction observation.
  • Adjust and operate survey instruments such as total stations and GPS receivers.
  • Performs confined space entries as required.
  • Uses technical knowledge to complete calculations, analyze data, summarize results, and write reports.

Other

  • Maintains target billable ratio.
  • Assists with maintenance, cleaning, and general upkeep of all V&A equipment, tools, vehicles, and office and warehouse spaces.
  • Maintains V&A’s field and warehouse supply and equipment inventory.
  • Schedules equipment calibration, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Maintains current certification for First Aid/CPR and Confined Space Entry. Completes other training as required to perform duties as described herein.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years experience on job site or similar experience preferred.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Experience in Construction Management preferred.
  • Confined Space Entry certification, or ability to obtain within six months preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
