Financial Aid Counselor Job at McKendree University
McKendree University is accepting applications for a Financial Aid Counselor. This position is responsible for administering daily system processing within financial aid software, ensuring office compliance with state and federal regulations, managing alternative loan process and federal aid processing with Department of Education. The Financial Aid Counselor will evaluate financial aid applications to determine student eligibility, awarding and processing, and record retention for their caseload. This position is also responsible for counseling and advising students and parents on various federal, state and institutional financial aid programs in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be able to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. They must also possess exceptional customer service and organizational skills; strong oral and written communication skills; and the desire to work closely with a diverse student population and all university employees. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree with experience working with the public in financial aid matters along with a basic understanding of federal and state financial aid rules and regulations. Knowledge of computer software systems including Ellucian/Colleague, Department of Education Software, Microsoft Access and VAONCE.
