What We Are Looking For

The Financial Analyst is in the conductor's seat of projects both long and short term, ensuring the financial life-cycle of a project is a smooth and enjoyable experience for our team and partners. As the main line of communication between clients and team members, this person must have excellent communication skills including phone and email etiquette, in addition to a confident, collaborative, and proactive personality. They should also have a deep interest or experience in TV & film.

As a production company with a hospitality mentality, the Financial Analyst is responsible for maintaining partner communication by being the lead communicator for any higher-level financial discussion points and maintaining partner satisfaction by going above and beyond to ensure partners are happy and relationships are always healthy.

The Financial Analyst manages projects from a high-level. They are the go-to resource for Supervising Producers, Producers, and Associate Producers on project-related questions, are responsible for managing project budgets, and are involved in quarterly financial goal meetings where they are a key strategist in setting and reaching these fiscal goals. The Financial Analyst currently reports to the Sr. Director of Business Development and meets frequently with Producers, Associate Producers, contractors, and the edit team while working on active projects.

The successful candidate is comfortable and confident while giving constructive feedback and has a firm grasp on the many elements and levels of finance that go into production. They are also capable of creating and implementing processes across all projects in their purview, to ensure consistency and success across the board.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Payroll setup and payment for specific projects

  • Conduct bi-weekly finance meeting with CEO and Director of Business Development to go through all current A/P

  • Create progressive invoices per contracts, sent by CEO and Director-level staff

  • Working with company CPA to keep entities clean

  • Track expenses and invoices payable, including contractor payments

  • Invoice billable expenses for Work For Hire projects, at the discretion of Director of Production Services

  • Periodically review projects’ margin to make sure healthy

  • Accounts Receivable

  • Review and implement new processes for AP/AR as needed

  • Invoice per contracts

  • Set up clients with their payment platform as needed

  • Follow up with clients on past due invoices.

  • Assist as needed with other LLCs set up and processing of payroll

  • Set up Vendors for ACH and Bill-Pay payments as needed

  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly in the first week of each month

  • Reconcile company Visa after the period ends, monthly on or around the 8th

  • Review AP and receive approvals on what can be paid and what to hold

  • Review AR and discuss what is outstanding, and what will be ready to be billed soon

  • Coordinate with outside production accountants for projects which require them

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of financial experience, preferably within the media industry

  • Excellent attention to detail in entering correct data into financial records and recognize errors

  • Mathematics skills for accurate record-keeping

  • Administrative skills for filing financial records

  • Extensive experience in QuickBooks

  • Computer literacy, especially familiarity with spreadsheets, databases and accounting software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Bill.com

  • Multitasking and organizational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines

  • Interpersonal and customer service skills for dealing with customers, suppliers and other employees in the accounts department

  • Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial matters in accessible terms

Reports To: Sr. Director of Business Development

Works With: CEO/Founder, Sr. Director of Business Development, Sr. Supervising Producer, Supervising Producer, Lead/Senior Producer(s), Producers, and other staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $70K - $80K

Location: In response to COVID-19, this position is currently remote. Candidates based in NYC or LA preferred, but we are open to a remote arrangement for the right candidate.
