Duties

Through performing accounting and other financial reviews and analysis, this position supports State Parks' mission by assuring compliance with fiscal policies and procedures, or other financial data in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position reports to the Accounts Payable supervisor in Financial Services.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Analyze, interpret, assign coding, and process vendor/utility payment claims.
  • Review, analyze, verify reports, and correct discrepancies as necessary for vendor, utilities, and petty cash reimbursements.
  • Analyze, monitor, evaluate, and implement fiscal and/or accounting activities (i.e., the monthly Purchase Card, Fuel Card, Use Tax, Petty Cash Distributions, and Reconciliations).
  • Analyze, prepare entry documents, and reconcile the Capital Asset Management System (CAMS) for various capital assets.
  • Analyze and resolve accounting problems related to outstanding warrants (Statute of Limitations), returned warrants, and processes warrant cancellation journal vouchers.
  • Reconcile General Ledger Account 5194 (Warrant Cancellations) monthly and at Fiscal/Biennial year end closing.
  • Process inter-agency and intra-agency payments and distributions.
  • Reconcile "Due to Due From" (GL 5154) balances from other agencies.
  • Access the Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS) to prepare, input, and review fiscal documents.
  • Assist in fiscal year closing of financial records.
  • Help with Payroll cut-offs and other special projects.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
AND
  • One (1) year of accounting experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of accounting course credits.
