JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Food Pantry Coordinator FLSA: Non-Exempt

Schedule: Full Time (40 hours a week)

Department: Case Management Program

Accountability: Director of Case Management

Summary:

The Food Pantry Coordinator is responsible for ordering, receiving, documenting, maintaining, packing, and distributing food to recipients of the food pantry. Food Pantry Coordinator is also responsible for organizing, attending, and/or ensuring adequate attendance at community donation events. This position requires adequate computer skills in relation to Microsoft Office, email, and data entry. Regular interaction with agency staff, volunteers, and the general public is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Select and order needed pantry items from partner organizations including Helping Harvest, GIANT, and others.
  • Schedule delivery of supplemental foods from partner organizations.
  • Receive, document, and inventory all donations, including those from partner organizations and community donations.
  • Fulfill and pack food orders for pantry distribution.
  • Maintain pantry records and statistics required for monthly reporting to Board of Directors and partner organizations.
  • Ensure adequate supply of packing materials to fulfill pantry orders.
  • Create and maintain schedule for pantry volunteers.
  • Organize and separate all food coming in from all sources.
  • Know and understand the requirements for safe food storage which includes participating in necessary trainings.
  • Organization and execution of food drives within the Community including but not limited to Preston’s Pantry Project event and Piggy Bowl.
  • Possess the necessary computer skills for data entry of Food Pantry information into databases.
  • Check e-mail and voicemails multiple times a day and reply to donors, clients, and volunteers with relevant information.
  • Participate in all trainings and initiatives set forth by the Helping Harvest Food Bank.
  • Work some nights and weekends to accommodate Food Pantry functions.
  • Must have a clean record with the Department of Motor vehicles and have the ability to drive the Preston’s Pantry box truck.
  • Speak at public functions anywhere in the Community, as assigned.
  • Work effectively with other team members on shared projects, conferences, community development, grants, etc.
  • Produce typed letters and other needed documents.
  • Keep updated on current social and Community needs and applicable regulations.
  • Positively represent the Boyertown Area Multi-Service in moving forward key initiatives for Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and equality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Notwithstanding applicable ADA accommodations, while performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to: sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone.
  • Use of hands to operate standard office equipment and electric pallet jack; with regular reaching and lifting up to 40-50 pounds is required.
  • Ability to stand most working hours.
  • Ability to drive to various work settings is required.

Working conditions:

  • General office setting, stock area, and visits within community settings, both indoor and outdoor.
  • Must be willing/able to drive anywhere within the BAMS coverage area, and occasionally, outside the coverage area.
  • Must be willing/able to travel to conferences, trainings, etc., when required by the ED or grant guidelines
  • Must demonstrate respect and professionalism toward all clients, in all interactions.
  • Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • May be required to work some evenings and weekends to accommodate agency functions, to accommodate clients’ scheduling needs, and for special programs.
  • May occasionally be required to work additional hours above and beyond regularly scheduled hours.
  • When appropriate, assist clients with transportation, and delivery of material goods.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pantry setting experience preferred.

Pay: $19.23 per hour
