Location: We are seeking Food Service Workers for our Dockside/Cafe at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal.

Washington State Ferries operates the largest ferry system in the United States. Twenty-two ferries cross Puget Sound and its inland waterways, carrying more than 22 million passengers to 20 different ports of call. From Tacoma, Washington, to Sidney, British Columbia, we travel up and down the Sound, acting as a marine highway for commercial users, tourists and daily commuters alike. The fleet is a major tourist attraction and icon of Washington state.

Principal Function:

The Dockside/Cafe′ Attendant takes a key role among fellow associates in providing fast and efficient service to Sodexo Live!''s customers. They will assist supervisors and managers in organizing service of a variety of pre-made or made fresh-to-order snacks, beverages, and entre items from Sodexo Live!'s Quick Service menu. The Cafe′ Attendant may work inside the Anacortes Terminal building or staff a mobile food and beverage trailer located in the terminal parking lot. They will handle monetary transactions using a point of sale (POS) register and are responsible for maintaining Sodexo Live!'s standards for cleanliness and sanitation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding service to all Quick Serve customers.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures for processing customer sales transactions and use of the POS.
  • Ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.
  • Prepare, cook, and stock Quick Serve menu items to the highest quality of taste and presentation.
  • Follow all Sodexo Live! uniform and grooming standards.
  • Sort and stock product and supplies on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Keep work area clean, sanitized and organized.
  • Follow sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen area
  • Ensure all products are prepared, held and served at correct temperatures.
  • Utilize proper recipes, equipment, tools and utensils.
  • Demonstrate Sodexo Live! standards for guest service.
  • Be fully knowledgeable of Quick Serve menu to assist guests and staff with questions.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Must obtain MAST Liquor Card and WA Food Handlers Card.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work well independently.
  • Ability to work well in a high stress, fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used by guests who typically visit the work location.
  • Technology aptitude for working with POS and digital register.
  • Strong skills for providing guest service with keen ability to connect easily with customers.
  • Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs. Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.

Other requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
