This is a good full-time weekday job working for a great employer in Tualatin. You will be a part of recycling operations, helping to keep our planet green. The company hiring for this position has been at the forefront of recycling in the Portland Metro Area for decades and has several locations and room for long-term growth.

The Forklift/Baler Operator assists the Metals Supervisor in the purchase and process of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, while operating in a safe and efficient processing facility.

Schedule and Pay:

• Starting at $18/hour
• Monday - Friday, 6:00AM - 2:30PM
• Competitive Benefits Package after a probationary period

Responsibilities include:

• Knowledge of metal grades.
• Maintain safe and efficient operation of all equipment including but not limited to: front-end loader, forklift, and baler.
• Wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
• Move product or materials in and out of the warehouse-using forklift.
• Operate the two-ram baler in a manner that produces bales acceptable for market
• Make use of metal grade knowledge to create uncontaminated bales of material
• Ensure excellent customer service.
• Remove contaminants from commodities.
• Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor and maintenance crew.
• Assist customers in the public depot and buyback area when needed.
• Attend monthly safety meetings.
• Daily inspection of site conditions to ensure safety, cleanliness, and organization.
• Reliable and predictable on-site attendance is necessary.
• Willing to perform other incidental duties as required and assigned by management.

Skills and attributes:

• High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to operate a forklift.
• Strong ability to perform multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast pace environment.
• Ability to maintain composure in a stressful work environment.
• Knowledge of safe equipment operation including but not limited to front end loader, forklift, shear, wire stripper, two-ram baler and tote tipper.
• Ability to communicate information effectively.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
• Willingness to participate in job enhancement continuing education.

Physical Requirements:

• Working in an outdoor/warehouse environment; some repetitive mechanical work.
• Frequent lifting, frequent computer dexterity; pushing, pulling, walking, climbing stairs, standing, kneeling, twisting, vision, hearing, talking.
• Must be able to lift up to 49lbs unassisted.
• Ability to drive an automobile.
