The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for a Forklift Truck Operator Picker at our San Benito Foods facility in Hollister, CA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

Summary: Transports and stages production orders for shipment while driving a gasoline, liquefied gas, propane, or electric industrial lift truck in a safe manner. Maintains and record accurate inventory counts. Ensures that Good Manufacturing Practices Policies (GMP’s) Safety and Health Hazard Analysis and Critical Control (HACCP) procedures are being followed at all times. This is a non-exempt, union position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drives a forklift truck and tags products in a safe and efficient manner.
• Stacks cans and finished goods to a level of four high either by hand or using the correct equipment to accomplish the task.
• Efficiently move cans or finished goods without causing damage to cans, pallets or cases.
• Responsible for the containment, movement and reporting of damage to appropriate supervision.
• Counts and takes inventory for goods in their assigned areas.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred; at least one or more years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Forklift Certification and demonstrated experience to properly inspect and drive a forklift in a Production/Warehouse environment.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and must be able to lift, bend, squat, etc. frequently; able to visually inspect cans; stand, walk, and climb stairs; and reach with hands and arms.
• Requires ability to read and write in English preferred; bilingual preferred.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

Compensation:

• The hourly union wage is $24.52.
