Job Summary: Children and youth in foster care and their caregivers may require additional support to address the multifaceted needs of this population. Using the trauma-informed Functional Family Therapy - Foster Care (FFT-FC) Model, the Foster Care Sociotherapist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide individualized, coordinated assessment and care that will support the safety, well-being and permanency needs of children in family-based foster care.
Essential Functions
- Manage a caseload of 8-10 children designated as therapeutic
- Engage families via phone to ensure their availability and willingness to meet
- Engage the primary caregivers, which may include biological or foster parents or other legal guardian(s), develop and implement behavioral plans with the child, foster parents and family to optimize the child’s functioning and mental health in the family and community.
- Maintain weekly phone contact or more with the caregiver and child as needed.
Conduct FFT-FC Family Therapy Sessions in office, client’s home, or other designated locations- Enter data into Care4 data platform within 24-48 hours of session
- Participate in all Family Team Conferences and other meetings regarding children on caseload.
- Complete all required FFT training including, but not limited to, online modules, clinical consultation visits, clinical trainings, and weekly consultation sessions
- Additional related functions as needed
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field and license or limited permit required; minimum two years’ experience working with high-risk adolescents or children in foster care strongly preferred
- Willingness to work outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet with clients at times convenient to them
- Ability to work from a strengths-based, trauma-informed lens
- Strong organizational, time management, and technical skills
- Valid NY, NJ or CT driver’s license preferred
- Bilingual Spanish-speaking preferred
Salary: 62,000-67,500
