Primary duties will be performed in TLC's pediatric clinic. The Front Office Biller position involves various functions that ensure records, accounts and payments for services rendered are well managed. The biller communicates professionally and effectively with patients and their parents, co-workers, physicians, and other TLC team members as needed regarding, billing, claims insurance inquiries, etc. Reports directly to Clinical Director and Executive Director.

Job Duties:

· Verifies insurance and benefit information

· Processes billings to patients and third-party reimbursement claims

· Reconciles charges and payments to EOB’s

· Posts patient and insurance payments based on services provided

· Enters charges for new claims into TLC’s practice management software and the county’s

FOCUS system as needed

· Monitors and reviews unpaid claims to determine denial reason or payment status

· Responds to patient inquiries regarding billing and account information

· Follow-up with patients/clients to ensure timely resolution of all outstanding claims.

· Balances daily batches

· Prepares and distributes income and statistics reports

· Maintains up-to-date records of patient demographic information on data collection systems

· Performs administrative tasks such as receiving phone calls, replying to emails and using

Microsoft Word to prepare reports.

· Develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members and payer representatives

· Assist with front office duties as needed. This includes greeting patients/clients at front desk, answering incoming calls, taking messages, transferring calls to other employees as needed, maintaining patient schedules by adding, canceling and updating appointments as requested.

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or GED. College graduates with Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, mathematics, or a similar discipline preferred

· Minimum of one-year billing experience (health service industry preferred)

· Accounting skills – must be well-versed in using accounting and bookkeeping techniques to process and track billings

· Customer service skills – must be adept at courteously interacting with the patients to setup medical claims and payment plans. Is gentle and kind to all clients and has a passion for advocating for families.

· Data Entry Skills – must be proficient in inputting information into accounting systems to prepare bills for customers

· Excellent verbal, written and social skills.

· Strong knowledge of Explanation of Benefits (EOB)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
