A busy General Surgeon's Office located in Newport Beach seeks a full time experienced Surgery Scheduler to start ASAP! This is a remote position.

Schedule is Mon-Friday 8am to 5pm.

Job Description:

1. Coordinates surgeries for Surgeon

2. Answer a high volume of incoming phone calls and triage patient needs.

3. Schedule appointments and schedule surgeries.

4. Complete patient disability forms/requests.

5. Work closely with the physician to ensure the schedule is managed and patient needs are being taken care of. This position is very fast paced and requires a lot of attention to detail and someone who can multitask.

6. The phone lines are extremely busy and will require someone who can be patient and polite while being attentive including patient calls being returned and documented in a timely manner.

7. Reviews patient history and medications to insure accuracy in EMR and verify medical and/or specialist clearance needed prior to surgery.

8. Calls patient to time frame surgery.

9. Communicates with patients to coordinate surgery date, arrange for preop testing, arrange pre/post-op visits as per individual physician protocol.

10. Contacts referring physician, provides surgery information and any pre-op orders needed for H&P and/or medical clearance.

11. Ensures all pre-op orders are created and faxed to appropriate facility/s and/or sent to patient, including labs, EKG, chest x-ray, urine testing and /or any other testing required per physician protocol.

12. Ensures all pre-op testing is complete and is provided to hospital.

13. Meets and/or communicates with patient prior to surgery to go over consents, surgical estimates, insurance authorizations; responsible for collecting monies due prior to surgery.

Qualifications:

· Surgery Department coordinator and/or scheduling experience is required

· Customer service professionalism is a must

· Strong attention to detail & multi-tasking is required

· Strong computer skills

· Medical terminology required/clinical experience a plus

Education: Minimum high school graduate or equivalent.
