A 100% Alaskan owned, managed, and staffed company, our team includes experienced personnel with the education, training, experience, relationships, and resource capacity to handle multiple projects of all sizes across the state. Presently, they are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Superintendent.

JOB OVERVIEW

The General Superintendent will lead, manage and optimize the team of Superintendents and Foremen from project start-up through final completion and beyond. This position is also responsible for training the next generation of leaders in all aspects of safety, standards of quality, and relationship building.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Field Work

Accountable for:
  • Timely and accurate project schedules.
  • Making sure project schedules are made available to the Super/Foreman and Super/Foreman produce a look ahead schedule.
  • Success of the projects and the project teams under their oversight.
  • Overall Risk Management (Mitigating Performance Risk on Self-performed and Subcontractors/General Public).
  • Safety Risk Mitigation.
  • Setting the pace of the projects and lead by example to show the project teams how to treat clients, design partners, subcontractors, and our own crews.
  • Integrating with Sr. PM for PM/Superintendent/Foreman selection process for projects.
  • Crafting needs: Make sure that each project has the qualified manpower that it needs.
  • Assisting/coordinating Tools & Equipment needs: Make sure that each project has access to the tools and equipment required for the jobsites task.
  • Large equipment purchases.
  • Planning conflict resolution: Assist supers and foreman with approach options.
  • Self-Performed Work: Assist in means and methods review process.
  • Continuous improvement and optimization of Self-Performed productivity.
  • Gross Profit Results in tandem with Construction and Preconstruction teams’ performance.
  • Review of SWPPP Plans.
  • Ensure that SWPPP reporting, and implementation is accurate.
  • Attending project meetings
  • Communicating safety expectations to the Super/Foreman and never walk past an unsafe act without correcting it.
  • Reviewing control budgets with Super/Foreman prior to entry into accounting quality control inspections of the projects.
  • Ensuring quality issues are addressed timely and implement changes to eliminate re-occurrence.
In addition to the above functions, the General Superintendent will:

Support Pursuits

  • Assist estimating in self-performed operations.
  • Assist in work plan development for qualitative pursuits.
  • Quantity survey as assigned.
  • Sub solicitation as assigned.
  • Seek out new project opportunities.
  • Construction project team capacity projections
  • Support pre-bid/proposal project schedules.

Business Development

  • Building effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values.
  • Being the face of the business
  • Finding potential new clients and developing relationships with them
  • This could be finding them and assigning a Super that we think fits better with them.
  • Nurture existing client relations
  • Seek out new project opportunities
Mentorship

  • Accountable for utilizing all computer programs provided to our Superintendents and Foreman.
  • Safety training
  • Monitoring/ conducting audits of training records for each site.
QUALIFICATIONS

10 years of construction experience in Alaska in addition to 5 years of overseeing and mentoring multiple Superintendents.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee must lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Office and field, including travel statewide.
