In this role you’ll … lead Markem-Imaje‘s Embedded Software Engineering discipline with several development teams located in the USA, UK, France, Poland, Italy and India.
You’ll have an opportunity to… **lead Research & Development activities for large and complex firmware sub-systems that make our marking and coding equipment smarter, better-connected, and operating with superior performance.

*Education and/or Experience Required:*

  • Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering or related field is required.
  • Master’s or PhD degree in Software Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in various Software Engineering R&D roles in an international industrial environment with a minimum of 10 years managing teams.
  • Solid knowledge of multi-processor embedded systems, object-oriented programming, design patterns and service-oriented architectures.
  • Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and individual contributors
  • Experience executing the engineering project life cycle, including: requirements analysis, design, development, integration, validation, verification, and sustainment
  • Demonstrated success in leading, collaborating, and developing global teams of varying degrees of skill on complex technical projects
  • Demonstrated interest in process improvement initiatives
  • Adaptable, flexible with demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with changing priorities
  • Collaborative and willing to work with team resolving engineering issues as necessary.

*Principal Activities / Duties / Responsibilities:*

  • Be accountable for firmware development from proof of concept to production; ensure release commitments are met on time and with a high level of reliability.
  • Stay on top of multiple simultaneous projects, help teams brainstorm solutions, and provide guidance to resolve issues. Allocate firmware developers to new initiatives in accordance with the priorities of the portfolio.
  • Cultivate an atmosphere of innovation, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Champion Agile principles throughout the organization and deploy associated methodologies and tools.
  • Deploy state of the art firmware engineering development practices (such as continuous integration, test driven development, static code analysis, architecture, and design modeling, etc.). Guarantee global consistency.
  • Provide a range of people supervisory activities including objective-setting; performance and compensation reviews; career development plans; training; awards and recognition; hiring; succession plans, etc.
  • Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement
  • Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams
  • Leads evaluations and makes recommendations for tools, applications, and/or other capital investments to ensure SW team is equipped and stays current with industry best practices
