Job Summary and Qualifications

With oversight and direction from the Director of Medical Staff Services, the GME Coordinator is responsible for operational management and support of individuals obtaining graduate medical education experiences at Sunrise Hospital. The position requires a working understanding of ACGME or other national accreditation policies and hospital policies, as well as a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. The GME Coordinator will provide support of the Sunrise GME Program including analyzing administrative workflow, maintaining databases, communicating with hospital staff, HCA GME Consortium staff, faculty and trainees regarding a range of issues.

What you will do in this role:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Medical Staff Services, provides a variety of administrative and clerical support to the Sunrise GME Program and its participants
  • Acts as the Sunrise GME Program liaison with all affiliated residency and medical student training program coordinators, faculty and participants
  • Responsible for collecting and ensuring all required documentation on file for all Sunrise GME Program participants
  • Responsible for entering all required information on visiting residents/fellows into the resident management database (MedHub or other appropriate database)
  • Responsible for requesting all applicable computer application access through eSAF for all Sunrise GME participants as appropriate
  • Responsible for managing medical student rotations in the medical student management system, ensuring all documentation is on file and authorizing the student rotations (Clinician Nexus or other appropriate database)
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Sunrise GME participants are appropriately badged, scheduled for computer training as appropriate, and arranges for scrub access if required
  • Assists in coordinating appropriate orientation for Sunrise GME participants as appropriate
  • Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills, and maintains appropriate interpersonal relationships
  • Serve as an articulate representative of the Sunrise GME Program with all audiences, and complies with established policies
  • Utilizes appropriate and acceptable intervention and communication styles in order to be an effective liaison and resource person
  • Prepares written reports and documentation with correct grammar and form; submits all required reports and documentation accurately, completely and on time

Requirements for this role:

  • High school diploma, AA/AS/BA/BS preferred
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in a healthcare setting, graduate medical education, medical staff services or other equivalent experience
  • Ability to make decisions independently or to escalate issues as needed
  • Ability to efficiently and accurately manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Ability to work independently, with limited guidance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize information
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality
  • Establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations
  • General knowledge of ACGME, Joint Commission and other regulatory standards as required for the position
  • Articulates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and systems
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint) applications, Visual Cactus, MedHub and others as required.
