We are seeking a limited number of full-time Advanced Practitioners (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) for urgent care positions that include a 3-6-month urgent care specific training program. This opportunity is especially designed for NPs/PAs who have been practicing less than 12 months or those who lack urgent care/emergency medicine practice experience. This position will provide new and newer NPs/PAs mentoring by experienced providers, in-service training sessions and online education all while working full-time in an urgent care setting. The positions are based in our Mercy GoHealth Urgent Care centers within Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The partnership provides patients in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas with greater access to innovative urgent care through state-of-the-art technology and unique patient access tools, such as online registration and appointment scheduling.

Advanced Practitioners will master:
  • The examination and treatment of urgent care patients ages six months and up within established guidelines and scope of practice.
  • Ordering of routine point of care testing, X-ray studies, EKGs and other diagnostic services as well as select send out labs as pertinent to the patient visit.
  • Interpretation of X-Rays and EKGs to develop a plan of care or follow up plan for patients as appropriate.
  • Wound care including suturing of uncomplicated wounds.
  • Assessment and reduction of minor joint dislocations.
  • Assessment and application of splinting materials for sprains and fractures as indicated.
  • Other minor procedures such as I&D, fishhook removal, nail trephination, foreign body removal, ear lavage and other necessary procedures.
  • Starting IVs and draw bloods
  • Utilization of EMR Epic
  • Gradual autonomy with a goal of working as the sole provider in a clinic (with appropriate collaborating physician)
  • Delivering an unparalleled experience to the patients in the community.
  • Other duties assigned by the Physician Lead, Lead APP or Medical Director as appropriate

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
  • PA/NP: Appropriate certification required (NCCPA, AANC or AANP)
  • State licensure
  • AHA (American Heart Association) BLS certified (classes available upon hire).
  • Certified and trained to see both adults and pediatrics (6 months and up)
  • Ability to work weekends (every other weekend) and holidays (every other) per schedule.
