JOB SUMMARY

Mercy Learning Center is seeking a full-time Grant Writer with excellent organizational, writing and editing skills. This individual will report to the President and CEO. This position is responsible for all aspects of grant writing. This includes the letter of inquiry, needed documentation for the grant, the grant application, and the post-award documentation and reporting. This job also includes all development revenue data entry and the corresponding written acknowledgements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Preparation of grant proposal materials including; application, narratives, additional documents, budget development and mail or electronic submission

2. Identify and develop proposals and application packages for new funding opportunities for program/organizational appropriateness, mission alignment, and eligibility. These include but are not limited to corporate, private, and federal funding opportunities

3. Track grant applications in MLC database and submit progress reports

4. Assist with post-award administration of grants to ensure that organizational policies and procedures regarding funding are proactively addressed, adhered to and updated as needed

5. Maintain an accurate grants calendar, tracking grant deliverables and timelines using MLC database

6. Produce appropriate thank you letters and general correspondence to all donors – conduct revisions as needed for all templates

7. Conduct a semiannual revision of MLC grant language – update narrative text and budget information to reflect the most current organizational/program descriptions, data, impact, and trends

8. Plan and execute all marketing materials and public relations. Prepare content and produce all communications including the monthly e-news, bi-annually printed newsletter, the annual report, press releases, brochures and all other marketing materials

9. Prepare content and update regularly the MLC website. Maintain knowledge and experience utilizing new and existing online mediums to inform and actively engage sizeable audiences

10. Provide monthly reports and needed materials to the Board of Directors and their committees

11. Assist with any other writing requests per the President and CEO

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in English or related field

Experience: 3-5 years of professional work experience in a non-profit is required

Other Requirements: Passionate about the Mercy Learning Center mission. Knowledge of grants management and development revenue related procedures. Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, InDesign, and WordPress is required. The candidate must possess exceptional organizational, writing, editing, communication and computer skills, and have the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet time-sensitive deadlines. Must have the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Work Schedule – Full-time 40 hours

Monday-Friday 9 am – 5pm and an occasional weekend or evening
