The Grant Writer will work closely with the grant management team to sustain and expand the fundraising grants programs through research, writing, and submission of grant proposals, grant renewals, regular reports and grant requirements, and communication to funders. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Pay: $24.44-27.88/hour DOE

Duties:

  • Responsible for writing and preparing for submission of corporate, foundation, nonprofit, and government grant proposals (as needed), and required attachments for Mercy Housing.
  • Prepare and submits reports on grants to organization funders as required, monitor spending and outcomes as assigned.
  • Prepare grant applications including writing or amending program descriptions and compiling required data in collaboration with philanthropy and resident services staff.
  • Completes necessary follow up on grant proposals submitted; drafts acknowledgments and other correspondence to grantors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma
  • Three (3) years’ experience in grant writing and reporting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (education may substitute for experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals.
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of grant databases.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written; ability to write and edit persuasively.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to track and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team or committee and to successfully relate to employees and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Work effectively in a complex organization with multiple lines of business operating nationally with several cross-functional work teams.
  • Maintain confidential information with great care.
  • Represent Mercy Housing in a professional manner at all times.
