The Group Sales Associate is responsible for selling museum offerings that include, but are not limited to, group tickets, education programs, and guided tours to a broad set of group markets. The Group Sales Associate is responsible for other duties including, but not limited to, taking incoming calls and emails from groups interested in visiting the museum, processing group payments, upselling all museum offerings, including the Constitutional Ambassadors program, researching new group outlets, and managing group feedback. The Group Sales Associate plays a crucial role in the development, expansion, and maintenance of the Center’s group sales database, looks for new tactics and channels to reach customers, and tracks and reports on sales, while providing excellent customer service at all times.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Answer incoming group inquiries and make group reservations
- Confirm group reservations, send out post-visit evaluations, and manage group feedback
- As part of a broader outreach strategy, proactively contact a wide array of prospective group customers, including student, adult, senior, and military group organizers, as well as tour operators via phone, email, or in-person meetings in order to obtain new business and meet group sales visitation goals
- Work closely with front-line museum staff and education team to coordinate group arrival and program schedule to ensure a positive group experience
- Provide an excellent level of professional and courteous customer service to every existing client and prospective client
- Research new group outlets in conjunction with the Center’s special programming and exhibit upgrades
- Serve as a liaison between tour operators and the Center, and inform them about all the Center has to offer
- Demonstrate exceptional selling and upselling skills and knowledge of all product offerings
- Track attendance and trends for specific group markets, and assist with marketing strategy for each based on results
- Assist with implementation of direct marketing initiatives, including, but not limited to, email blasts and print mailings, as well as coordinated follow up
- Contribute to master communications plan for the Group Sales department
- Represent the Center professionally at various on-site and off-site tradeshows and conferences as needed in order to sell the Center as a premier group destination
- Execute key outreach for Constitutional Ambassadors program, tracking success of various efforts, and taking initiative in bringing new ideas to Group Sales team
- Schedule groups to visit the museum under the Young Citizens Scholarship Program and work with Coordinator on scholarship approvals
- Coordinate and book group packages with local attractions and restaurants
- Observe strict guidelines in building and maintaining customer account records
- Handle all customer issues in a professional and courteous manner; formulate appropriate solutions; communicate escalated issues to the Coordinator
- Develop strong relationships with key customers that will help ensure the success of the Center in future years
- Maintain client relationships with courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in every interaction
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, hospitality, or related field preferred, but not required
- 1 – 3 years prior sales experience and a proven track record in sales required
- Prior customer service experience required
- Must be comfortable with cold calling
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Altru CRM preferred
- Ability to work weekends, evening hours, or holidays as needed and assigned
Salary range: $36-46K
