Objective:

Are you looking to grow in the cannabis industry? If so, come be a part of the fun! We are currently seeking a full-time, Grow Technician to assist with pre-harvest operations. The Grow Technician is responsible for assisting in all cultivation areas; cleaning, cloning, transplanting, IPM applications, pruning plants, planting and resetting rooms, as well as various miscellaneous tasks for day-to-day management of NOBO Michigan’s cultivation facility.

Our ideal candidate is focused on the health of the plant from seed to bud while also maintaining compliance and sanitization standards. This candidate also has the following qualities:

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Cannabis cultivation operations experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly and require minimal supervision.
  • Positive outlook and attitude.
  • Reliable transportation and is punctual.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass a background check with no pending charges or convictions within the past 10 years for a controlled substance-related felony.
  • Must not be registered as a primary caregiver or must withdraw registration as a registered primary caregiver prior to accepting an official Offer of Employment.

Tasks and Expectations:

  • Assists Lead Cultivator with the coordination of all grow operations including daily activities, quality assurance, potting, manicuring, plant rotation, harvesting and trimming as well as assuring compliance with local, state and federal licensing requirements.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of growing areas and may assist in monitoring and documenting plant growth.
  • May phase into regular use of METRC to assist with documenting product inventory.
  • Demonstrates ownership, accountability, initiative, and quality of work through management of the veg room, maintaining and managing mothers and clones.
  • Completes regularly scheduled quality assessment of plants for signs of pests/disease under the training of the Lead Cultivator.
  • Collaborates with the General Manager to ensure the cultivation facility is consistently stocked with appropriate supplies at all times.
  • Ensures all equipment and systems (mechanical, lighting, plumbing, etc) are properly maintained.
  • Cleans spills, leaks and ensures that safety signs are in place to caution employees on wet floors, oily surfaces, and other occupational hazards as soon as they are noticed.
  • Follows all cultivation SOPs, plans, policies, schedules and procedures, including propagation, plant care, IPM, health, and safety operations, harvest and post-harvest.
  • Maintains clean, safe and operational workspace and surrounding areas.
  • Adheres to strict sanitation practices throughout the facility.
  • Must work quickly and efficiently to maintain product quality and increase productivity.
  • Assists leadership in identifying strategies to implement efficiencies, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of LARA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Worker Protection Standards (WPS), and Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development regulations.
  • Must adhere to the Company’s stated Equality and Diversity and Drug-Free Workplace policies.
  • Maintains relevant facility records according to federal, state, and local regulations as directed by leadership.
  • Fosters a positive and communicative work environment.
  • Requests continuing education as needed.

  • Supports NOBO’s overall strategy and values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Cannabis cultivation operations experience preferred.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of plant pests, potential contaminants, and product quality.
  • Ability to pass a background check with no pending charges or convictions within the past 10 years for a controlled substance-related felony.
  • Must not be registered as a primary caregiver or must withdraw registration as a registered primary caregiver prior to accepting an official Offer of Employment.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a MED Key badge prior to beginning employment.

  • Qualified applicants have an aptitude for comprehending compliance and the ability to adhere to regulatory framework and internal standard procedures.

Working Conditions and Considerations:

To be successful in this role, the candidate should consider ability and comfort as it relates to the role that they have applied for. Work is performed in a cultivation environment with moderate to loud noise levels. This role may require that you are able to work and maneuver in tight spaces and changing working/environmental conditions. It may also require use of safety equipment or personal protective equipment (PPE) when needed. At times you may be required to lift or leverage up to 50 pounds. Please consider and understand that this role will likely require you to sustain posture in a seated or standing position for prolonged periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers and keen sight is required to tend to plants. Accommodations may be made for qualified individuals to perform the essential functions of the position.
