JOB TITLE: Guest Reception and Sales Associate

DEPARTMENT: Mercy Center Burlingame

REPORTS TO: Hospitality and Events Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

JOB PURPOSE: To provide guest experience hospitality for in-person and online environments, and sales associate for Mercy Center Burlingame. Work hours include 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift work and weekends. Offers a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for our guests and the Mercy campus community and covers evening and night-hour reception services. Assists with expanding our reach for hosted events including sales and client relationship building. Completes administrative tasks to support the needs of Mercy Center and the Director, while creating on-line content and website updates and improvements.

ABOUT MERCY CENTER: Mercy Center is an internationally known retreat and conference center in the San Francisco Bay Area. We offer training programs in meditation, spirituality, and spiritual direction. We host up to 100 overnight guests and up to 400+ people for conferences and events. Our programs are offered in-person and online.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Competencies and Experience

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have the following education, competencies, and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Psychology, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, nights, and some weekends as needed.
  • Minimum of 5 years customer service, hospitality/guest experience and clerical/administrative duties, and/or non-profit experience.
  • Solid computer skills with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel, and social media management and graphics software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • The ability to work in a team or independently, self stater with strong leadership abilities.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to cultivate effective working relationships with a broad range of employees and external contacts.
  • Capable of displaying strong self-motivation and sound decision-making ability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding and appreciation of the traditions and culture associated with the Sisters of Mercy,
  • Familiarity with the spirituality and retreat work,
  • Languages: Spanish speaking and writing ability a plus. Other languages a plus.

Full-time 40 hours with benefits. This role requires working collaboratively with a variety of teams in an office environment at our retreat center in Burlingame, CA.

Pay & Benefits:

Pay: Starting at $24TBD based on experience

Schedule may vary, flexibility needed on days and hours.

1st shift 7am-3:30pm

2nd shift 11am - 7:30pm

3rd shift 2:30-11pm
