ReStore Associate Position Description

TITLE: ReStore Associate

REPORTS TO: ReStore Director

ABOUT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY:

RESTORE MONROE:

The Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County ReStore is a home improvement center that accepts donated goods from retailers, manufacturers, contractors and homeowners. Donated items are sold to the general public and funds generated support the Monroe County affiliate of Habitat for Humanity and its local building program. Through its efforts, the ReStore also facilitates recycling, minimizes landfill waste, provides low-cost home improvement materials to the public, has a winter coat program, as well as increases Habitat’s visibility in our community.

The ReStore Associate is responsible for all areas of the day-to-day management of the ReStore including all daily operations, schedules, and positive development of staff and volunteers. This position implements and drives programs and outreach, providing sustained network development to expand the scope of Habitat ReStore activities to develop long-term, collaborative relationships with community-based trade/business groups, churches, businesses, and civic organizations. The focus of relationship building is to increase donations and grow the volunteer base. The Associate also ensures the ReStore raises awareness of Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County’s mission and work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive donations, sales and profits of the ReStore to further the local affiliate mission.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with potential and existing donors; including individuals, businesses, community and church groups to increase quality and quantity of merchandise donations.
  • Excellent customer service and general communication skills (in person, via telephone, computer, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products (excel, word)
  • Minimum 2 years relevant and ethical leadership, directing successful teams and accountable for meeting objectives.
  • Skill and ability to communicate with a diverse range of ethnic and economic demographics.
  • Accuracy, detail oriented and organized.
  • Prior non-profit experience preferred.
  • Day-to-day operations, including, but not limited to: Operation of cash register, fielding telephone calls, scheduling donations for pick-up, and maintaining a clean/safe store at all times.
  • Recognizes that the ReStore is often one’s first impression of Habitat for Humanity and ensures Habitat’s reputation and helps maintain a clean, well merchandised, and orderly environment.
  • Ensure ReStore is adequately staffed and operated by Associates with knowledge, skills, abilities and leadership to accomplish tasks.
  • Demonstrate, train and lead staff in outstanding service to customers, donors and volunteers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and accident procedures.
  • Open and close cash registers ensuring proper procedures are followed.
  • Provide accurate accounting records of revenues and expenses.
  • Valid driver’s license required and clean driving record.
  • Successful passage of criminal background check and drug screen testing.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. Job requires regular bending, kneeling, reaching and active movement throughout the day to assist customers.
  • Ability to drive ReStore box truck and to pick-up donations, preferred.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Status: PT/Hours (possibility of FT)

Work days: Tuesday-Saturday

Salary: $15-$20/hr depending on experience.
