Job Description

JOB TITLE: Hall Monitor
FLSA STATUS: Non exempt
UPDATED: FY ‘21

POSITION OBJECTIVES: To monitor all common areas of the building and maintain a safe, orderly environment for students, staff and visitors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ensure that all students are safe. Ensure students are not in hallways without permission, spending excessive time in the restrooms, etc.
Keep students at an appropriate voice level and orderly while in the hallway, especially during passing times.
Monitoring study halls as needed.
Covering lunch duties as needed.
Possible afternoon bus duty.
The monitor may be part of individualized student plans, ensuring students are appropriately accessing plans.
The monitor is expected to follow all requests of the administration.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Monitor will consult with student support staff and Director of
Student Services

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, in addition to the following:
High School education
Ability to be on one's feet for long periods of time
Good communication skills and the ability to speak clearly to and deal courteously and efficiently with faculty, staff and visitors.
Good organizational skills.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND STRESS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk and hear.
The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
