Do you want to help communities build resilience before or after disasters? Our mitigation team is directly engaged in helping our clients navigate these complex programs, engaging in pre- and post-disaster grant development and management. The candidate will participate in and/or lead project initiatives for federal, state, and/or local clients, with tasks that include program management, development and/or review of federal grant applications, program monitoring, and review and improvement of plans, documents, manuals, policies, and procedures.

Our Hazard Mitigation Team is a group of remote professionals, so candidates in any geography should apply, provided they are comfortable traveling up to 15% of the time.

In this role, candidates must have:

  • More than five years (5) of experience in emergency management and disaster recovery, with at least three years (3) of experience focused on Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Assistance Programs.
  • Experience effectively working with or managing a team.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to produce technically and programmatically sound deliverables with little oversight.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • A bachelor’s degree.

Candidates might also have:

  • Consulting experience in the public, private, or non-profit sector.
  • Experience working with disadvantaged communities.
  • Experience managing projects of various sizes, to include developing a project plan, managing a team, creating and managing project budgets, and presenting deliverables to a client.
  • Experience conducting Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA) for hazard mitigation projects.
  • Experience developing or reviewing Section 406 Mitigation projects.
  • Experience developing hazard mitigation plans.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Certified Floodplain Manager or Certified Emergency Manager.
  • A master’s degree pertinent to emergency management, homeland security, public administration, business administration, civil or environmental engineering, or similar field. The required bachelor’s degree should be in the same discipline(s).
