Brief Description:

Jazz Pharmaceuticals is looking for a Head of Enterprise Data Strategy within the Information Services organization – The Executive Director, Head of Enterprise Data Strategy, Information Services (IS) will be a key leader within the Jazz Global IS Function working in an enterprise-wide capacity. Reporting directly to the VP & Chief Information Officer (CIO), the successful candidate will focus on developing and executing the data transformation agenda through innovative strategies and industry-leading data products and analytics, including centralized data acquisition and management, that best serve our long-term vision. The individual will work closely with the respective business partners and data scientists across Jazz to drive execution of the strategic data roadmaps including driving data vision and a unified enterprise data strategy, frameworks, and processes to enable functions to gather and assess their data needs and meet their goals. The individual will also explore and prioritize experimentation hypothesis and use-cases that could drive valuable insights.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the Enterprise Data Strategy function, developing strategy, providing thought leadership, and managing senior level stakeholders
  • Create and own forward looking enterprise data strategy and roadmap and ensure alignment and integration with the organization’s business plans
  • Establish a fit for purpose governance program overseeing the execution of the enterprise data strategy
  • Own and maintain overall accountability for implementing the roadmap of enterprise data initiatives across partners and stakeholders; influence partners on execution, delivery, and quality; influence stakeholders on key decisions and change efforts
  • Own and maintain overall accountability for support and adoption of enterprise-wide data technology platforms including master data management, active metadata management and digital data catalog, enterprise BI, AI/ML, data lake and data warehousing environments
  • Manage, prioritize, and align enterprise-wide data procurement, projects, and initiatives
  • Partner with functional leaders on privacy, regulatory, and security requirements
  • Transform the data and analytical capabilities through strategic execution and delivery to drive data driven insights and decision making across the organization
  • Oversee and influence all data vendor relationships and agreements at an enterprise level to ensure proper selection, review and diligence including architecture and implementation review
  • Manage and oversee processes ensuring the consistent use and scalability of data as a primary asset for the organization
  • Lead identification and articulation of data technology capabilities and innovation opportunities, identify and prioritize experimentation hypothesis and use cases that could drive value creation
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and development; identify, research, experiment with, assess and socialize new and upcoming trends and practices that could benefit the overall business
  • Apply industry leading data management techniques and methodologies to drive data strategy and compliance (policies and standards), design, structure and own data products and solutions
  • Deep dive analysis of the current data and analytics landscape (data architecture, hierarchies, quality, lineage, metadata, and governance) to identify opportunities, risks, and challenges; propose and own tactical solutions
  • Partner with senior business and information services leaders and tech stakeholders to shape business and technical requirements; bridge the technical and business organizations and ensure we are building strategic data products
  • Partner with information services business partners and technical providers to help build foundational data products that drive data and analytical solutions (e.g., data catalog, data lineages, master data management, taxonomies)
  • Lead strategic review of data solution initiatives and development, provide clear and timely feedback to ensure business and data technology solutions are delivered on strategy; lead or participate in respective project post-mortems and capture key learnings and develop case studies as appropriate
  • Establish a data literacy competency program and grow data literacy in the organization to enable a data-driven culture and improve decision making and business insights

Required/Preferred Education and Experience

  • BA/BS with a minimum of 12 years of experience in information technology, data management, data domain business analysis and delivering technical and operational change in medium to large size companies
  • Experience as a technical expert in data analytics, business analysis, or business intelligence prior to leadership/management experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of recent experience in a senior management role related to data and analytics
  • Ability to navigate and lead organizational change and deliver results; take ownership and manage large scale transformation programs and execute on work-streams
  • Results-oriented leader with ability to work in dynamic environment with changing and multiple priorities, practical problem solver and strong prioritization skills
  • Experience in roles and functions that are highly data-driven and that require understanding of data (data models, governance, quality, catalog, taxonomies) and technology architecture as related to business requirements and use cases
  • Innovative, capacity to think through enterprise lens and forward thinker with good grasp of new technologies, competitive landscapes, and the regulatory environment
  • Strong collaborator and change agent with demonstrated experience in influencing stakeholders to support decision making processes
  • Ability to support and adapt in dynamic environment, experience in agile approaches
  • Ability to work across business lines at senior leader level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals; ability to thrive in a matrix environment to motivate teams to be aligned with organizational strategic objectives
  • Prior experience with implementation of data governance and master data management
  • Prior working experience with AWS cloud and relevant data technologies, including data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL tools
  • It is a plus to have skills in statistical skills, data warehousing, big data and modern data processing platforms, advanced analytics, modeling, machine learning, programming language skills, knowledge of application, data and could infrastructure architecture

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $232,000-$304,500. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
