SUMMARY

Provides support in producing a SharePoint site for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Global Migration and Quarantine (DGMQ).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Maintain and provide creative and technical support for Microsoft SharePoint, Power Apps, and Power Automate-led training programs, such as the branch electronic training plan.
  • Design and produce a variety of communication, training and education materials such as posters, fact sheets, social media, training materials, web content, general public, community audiences using standard instructional design and state of the art multimedia techniques to include the design and production of distance‐based learning activities.
  • Design, develop, and produce non‐instructional support materials such as references, job aids, toolkits, glossaries, web portals, SharePoint sites, podcasts, video casts.
  • Provide creative layout and design expertise such as developing storyboard/script/layout for videos productions.
  • Provide consultation for design layout of the CDC website content management system, development of training and educational materials, and graphic design for materials and documents
  • Provide technical editorial services by appropriately, correctly, independently and accurately edit s cientific documents for English and grammar.
  • Provide editorial, writing, and formatting support for a variety of documents such as materials for publication, presentation for both internal and external audiences, and award submissions. Serve as the primary editor for submissions to journals such as Clinical infectious Disease Journal and compile SME contributions.
  • Compile, prepare, and disseminate the weekly public health reports.
  • Prepare abstracts and presentations for, attend, and present at international, national, state and local level public health meetings and scientific meetings.
  • Develop postings and public health guidance for the DGMQ Epi‐X Refugee Health Forum
  • Provide support to the division for the clearance of materials to include assurance that all creative materials meet CDC branding and clearance criteria; production of weekly reports on clearance and other s cience reports; tracking the movement of materials with clearance of materials through clearance systems (such as Documentum) to ensure none of the materials are moved through without undue delay; maintaining user accounts and other system management activities in clearance systems; and producing weekly reports on clearance and other science reports.
  • Provide guidance and advice on the implementation of public health communication projects and education programs, and other activities related to training and communications using expert knowledge of health communications and health promotion methodologies.
  • Serve on the DGMQ task force during a public health emergency response developing training and communication materials.
  • Provide logistical work, communications expertise, and emergency response communication to support communication efforts for CDC-wide emergency responses. Perform outreach to state and local partners in response to a public health response which may change based on the type of response.
    • This outreach can be in the form of developing guidance documents, setting up meetings, planning meetings, or other notifications whether electronic, paper, or verbal.
  • Track website metrics on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  • Serve as liaison between subject matter experts and the web developer.
  • Establish the layout and provide customer service from beginning to end of the website development process.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory/management authority.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, English, or related field
  • 5+ years' experience developing communication and marketing strategies
  • 3+ years’ experience with SharePoint, Power Apps, and Power Automate-led training
  • Previous experience with CDC DGMQ programs, policies and procedures highly desired

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Preferred knowledge of CDC/DGMQ’s programs objective and goals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications ( Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent level of attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority assignments
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to multitask, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal background check and a drug screen
  • Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

  • Must be able to pass a NACI/Tier I background investigation

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is conducted in a climate-controlled office environment.
  • The environment may require prolonged sitting, prolonged standing, and light lifting up to 20 lbs.
