We are seeking a Financial Counselor to join our team! You will be responsible for coordinating all activities necessary to financially secure the patient's account through the insurance verification process and resolving complex problems that include but are not limited to authorizations and coordination of benefits.

Responsibilities:

• Reviews accounts for appropriate insurance coverage by utilizing EPIC, along with all third-party payer systems.
• Obtains benefit information and obtains authorization or provides notification to the payer, if applicable.
• Identifies and confirms self-pay patients and/or need for assistance with co-pays and deductibles for appropriate referral to Financial Case Management for possible Medicaid application and /or Financial Assistance for hospital charges.
• Notifies and monitors the patient’s COBRA entitlement and assists with paperwork if necessary.
• Determines the primary payer through knowledge of Medicare and other payer regulations for the coordination of benefits.
• Notifies Utilization Management of clinical requests by third-party payers.
• Maintains a monitoring system for adequate benefit coverage and eligibility throughout the patient's stay.
• Accountable for meeting department standards for completion and QA of visits on a day to day basis by making sure missing registration items are complete and authorization obtained.

Qualifications:

• AAS in related discipline (admitting, registration, patient billing, insurance) with 3 years of related experience, preferably in a hospital-setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A high degree of professionalism and motivation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to type 45 words per minute.
• Strong knowledge of third party payers.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.'

Option to work hybrid schedule upon completion of training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
