Journeyman Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic

Copper River Technologies is seeking a Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic to support the NAVFAC MID-ATLANTIC Contract in Norfolk, VA. The objective of this position is to procure qualified heavy motor vehicle mechanic services necessary to augment the workforce. The work involves performing both corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance at the organizational to intermediate level under the Navy's 3M program.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Maintain Highly Mobile Multi-Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV's), Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacements (MTVRs), bulldozers, front end loaders, KALMAR Rough Terrain Cargo Handler (RTCH), forklifts, generators, light plants, and white gear (i.e. Suburban SUVs, vans, pickup trucks, and buses).
  • Perform routine preventative equipment maintenance and repair in accordance with the Navy's 3M maintenance program.
  • Perform oil and filter changes, fluid checks and replacement, tire repairs/replacements, brake system checks and component repairs and replacements, troubleshooting and repair of various mechanical and electrical equipment components, etc.
  • The Government shall provide Contractor personnel with training on the 3M Maintenance Program. Contractor personnel are expected to successfully pass that training to work on this contract.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Requires 5-10 years of prior relevant experience as a Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic
  • Candidate shall be experienced in troubleshooting and repairing heavy and light diesel tracked and wheeled construction equipment, light diesel construction and material handling equipment, hydraulics, gasoline internal combustion engines and equipment. Candidate shall have experience in troubleshooting and repairing all aspects (including electrical aspects) of diesel-powered generators.
  • The candidate shall execute proper lockout/tagout safety procedures for the control of energy while working on vehicles and equipment. The training includes proper containment procedures for both hazardous and non-hazardous fluids, as well as spill clean-up procedures. It also shall include the proper use of hand and power tools available for use by the Contractor personnel by the Government.
  • Candidates shall have working level knowledge of the computers that use Microsoft Office Software Suite computer software appropriate to the specific roles and responsibilities performed under this contract.
