Saint Peter's Culinary Department is seeking a Helper Cook to join the team!
The Helper Cook - will work under partial supervision, has basic kitchen, cooking and knife skills. Prepares breakfast and lunch meals for patients, catering, cafeteria and offsite programs in accordance with standardized recipes. Will also be responsible for cold food preparations as well as assist with Retail and Restaurant duties.
Monday-Friday (with weekends rotation). Shifts will vary.
Available positions - Full Time and Per Diem
Possible schedules: 5:30 am - 2 pm, or 6 am - 2:30 pm, or 11:00 am - 7:30
You Will:
- Coordinate the set-up of food for retail, special events, patients, and offsite programs in accordance with schedule set up by department.
- Follow all standardized recipes and portion control for all foods.
- Be responsible for and assists with prep for the following day's patient, retail, special events' menus in accordance with assignments.
- Follow food safety, food handling and safe work procedures and policies as laid out in the department based on HACCP, local, state and federal guidelines and laws. Completes HACCP forms daily.
- Keep work area clean and orderly while handling foods.
- Practice safety and sanitation procedures. Including, cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas and equipment in accordance with department procedures.
- Be responsible for food quality.
- Request repairs as required.
- Interact with team in professional manner.
You Need:
- 1 year relevant culinary experience in a cold and hot food preparation.
- To be able to work unassisted as a shift cook.
- To have versatility to adapt to frequent changes in job duties covering a wide range of Kitchen duties.
- Knowledge of the operation of most food prep and related equipment.
- The ability to Read and Write English.
- To complete tasks as assigned up to and including but not limited to those listed above or to this role.
