School Counselor

The Position

New Paradigm For Education seeks a certified high school counselor to provide counseling and guidance services for students. The school counselor will impart individual and group counseling, classroom guidance, activities, parent consultation, registration of new students, academic planning and credit evaluation. School counselor duties include but are not limited to:

• Plan a balanced and comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program that includes guidance curriculum, responsive services, individual planning, and system support components

• Manage program personnel and or other program resources

• Advance and support the school developmental guidance and counseling program, operating with the highest ethical and professional standards with school personnel, parents, students, and the community

• Conduct and coordinate structured group lessons to deliver guidance curriculum effectively

• Accurately and without bias guide individual and groups of students and parents to plan, monitor, and manage the student’s own personal and social development

• Consult with school personnel, parents, and other community members to promote understanding of student development, individual behavior, the student’s environment, and human relationships.

• Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards related to assessment

• With the assistance of school personnel, interpret standardized tests results and other assessment data to guide students in individual goal setting and planning

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Certified Michigan School Counselor

• Bachelor's degree in Guidance and/or School Counseling (Masters degree preferred)

• A minimum of three years of teaching, counseling, or other experience working with children similar in age to the position highly preferred

The employee shall keep confidential and not disclose or make any use of, except for New Paradigm for Education schools benefit, at any time, either during or subsequent to the termination of the Employment Contract Agreement, any trade secrets, formulae, methods, techniques, computations, knowledge, data or other information of New Paradigm for Education, processes, know-how, marketing, teaching, selling ideas, selling concepts, equipping processes, customer lists, student names or addresses, student parents’ names or addresses, forecasts, marketing plans, strategies, pricing strategies, computer programs and copyrightable or patentable materials, or other confidential information or subject matter pertaining to the school’s business, or any of its clients, customers, students, parents, consultants, suppliers or affiliates, which a Covenanter may produce, use, view or otherwise acquire during while engaged pursuant to this Agreement.
