Job Summary:

  • Provide companionship to client.
  • Prepare and serve meals and/or snacks.
  • Provide grooming and dressing guidance.
  • Provide light housekeeping.
  • Provide laundry and linen service to include washing, ironing and folding clothes.
  • Provide shopping service to client to include grocery and clothes shopping.
  • Provide incidental transportation for client which includes visits to doctor appointments, friends, family members, or stores.
  • Provide assistance and planning of client’s recreational activities and events.
  • Record and report changes in the client’s physical condition, behavior or appearance to supervisor or Case Coordinator.
  • Document services delivered in accordance with Home Care policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Ambulates, positions, transfers and turns residents at a minimum of fifty (50) pounds frequently. Turns, crouches, kneels, stoops, bends below waist and reaches above shoulder height frequently. Climbs stairs frequently. Walks, sits and stands frequently. Lifts and/or carries objects at a minimum of fifty (50) pounds frequently. Pushes and/or pulls equipment at a minimum of one hundred (100) pounds frequently. Uses sight and auditory senses. Possesses good finger and hand dexterity as well as good body mechanics. Must have a genuine interest in geriatrics.
  • Is at least 18 years old.
  • Is flexible, sensitive to the needs of others, reliable and able to cope with emergencies.
  • Is able to read and write English.
  • Able to carry out and understand direction and instruction.
  • Is able to document and keep records.

Education:

  • High school education or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
  • No certification required.

Experience:

  • Must have completed orientation, non-medical training program and competency.
  • Have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick and elderly.
  • Ability to carry out directions, read and write.
  • Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
