This position is base salary (Commensurate with experience), plus Bonus/Commission structure based on sales.

Job Description Summary*
Lorian Hospice seeks a self-motivated and compassionate and experienced Hospice Sales Representative to promote the Lorian Hospice program and act as a liaison between referral sources, patients & families, and the hospice organization. The Sales Representative is responsible for growing the census while being heavily involved in the community providing direct interaction and support to terminal patients and their families.

Minimum Qualifications:*

  • Minimum two (2) years of sales/marketing experience in healthcare
  • One (1) to two (2) years experience in hospice/palliative marketing strongly preferred
  • Skilled at establishing/maintaining working relationships with patients and families, community organizations, marketing contacts, and clinical staff to ensure thorough understanding of Hospice services.
  • Proven ability to generate and maintain relationships with new and existing accounts including physicians, healthcare professionals, and community agencies
  • Expertise in crisis intervention and family support.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and excellent judgment.
  • High School Graduate or GED. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred (Ex: RN, MSW, Healthcare Administration, etc.) Additional experience may be substituted for educational requirement.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of acceptable automobile insurance coverage.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Ability to make accurate, and at times, quick judgments. Ability to respond appropriately to crisis outside of a hospital setting.
  • Acceptance of and adaptability to different social, racial, cultural, and religious modes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Hospice Sales Representatives are responsible for overseeing their assigned marketing territory, including establishing and maintaining working relationships with various organizations who utilize hospice care services within the community. The Sales Representative maintains a deep understanding of the hospice benefit in order to liaise between referral sources and meets with patients and families to assist with enrollment into hospice services, also reports back to referral sources with patient status and referral outcome to maintain trust and open communication within the community. The Sales Representative regularly schedules and conducts visits to referral sources in order to assist in providing continuing education about hospice services to the community thereby increasing community awareness about the Lorian Hospice organization.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with potential referral sources such as physicians, discharge planners, case managers, social workers, and other health care professionals who utilize hospice care services within the community.
  • Maintain organization of all marketing accounts with plans for follow up and continuing education to further community awareness about Lorian Hospice.
  • Maintain organization of all pending referrals with plans for follow up and presents communication on referral outcome to hospice clinical team and to referral source.
  • Providing patient advocacy (on the team, in the program, in the community)
  • Maintain appropriate documentation in the hospice patient chart.
  • Attends staff meetings, IDG and other meetings as assigned and as necessary.
  • Participate in training and in-service education.
