KMC offers services in a wide array of specialties for both inpatient and outpatient services. The main campus has:

  • Six operating rooms
  • Two procedure rooms

  • Three inpatient nursing units: Medical Surgical, Telemetry, and Intensive Care
  • Outpatient services including: X-Ray, CT, MRI, PET, PT, Lab, and Cardiac Rehab

Education/Training:*
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university required.
Nursing Diploma program completed during or before the 1980’s accepted in lieu of a degree.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure and Certification Requirements:*
Registered Nurse License Issued by the Kansas State Board of Nursing required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred upon hire. Must be obtained within six months of hire.
Additional Requirements for employees working in the Emergency Department:
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification preferred upon hire. Must be obtained within one year of hire.
Trauma Nurse Core Course issued by Emergency Nurses Association preferred upon hire. Must be obtained within one year of hire.

Position Summary:*
The Registered Nursing (RN) Manager will strategically manage and direct the unit. The RN Manager is responsible for selection of nursing and allied health professionals for staffing needs, as well orientation, clinical education, competency evaluation, and policies and procedures related to assigned area. In addition, the Registered Nursing (RN) Manager will make recommendations of efficient and cost-effective use of human and material resources in delivering quality services.

Essential Job Functions:*
1. Ensures assistants and staff provide the highest quality of care and are in compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, federal, state and local requirements.
2. Establishes, implements, and maintains patient care and service standards to meet members and internal client’s expectations.
3. Designs and evaluates processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum of care.
4. Develops and monitors budgets for the appropriate use of human and material resources.
5. Monitors financial performance and identifies and implements strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service.
6. Determines the appropriate staff mix for department and develops processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all department staff.
7. Ensures ongoing staff development. Develops, implements, and monitors departmental policy and procedures which support the organizations goals and business objectives and ensures they are met.
8. Oversees and develops standards of care and standards of practice, directs fiscal management, and quality improvement activities.
9. Manages and resolves human resource, employee and department safety, and risk management issues.

Work Environment:*
This position operates in a typical temperature-controlled hospital environment. Work environment generally includes moderate-to-high risk of exposure to blood/ bodily fluids. Risk generally includes moderate-to-high risk of exposure to infectious disease. This position does include occupational risk of exposure to tuberculosis (Category 2). This position includes a moderate to high risk of exposure to Hepatitis B.
