Position Description
Title: Host/Hostess Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Restaurant Operations
Reports To: Restaurant Management Team
Primary Responsibilities: Greets (both arriving and departing) and seats all guests in a friendly manner and assists in maintaining the overall guest flow of the restaurant and engage in guest readiness behaviors which ensure that the restaurant environment is See You Tomorrow ready. Specific Functions and Duties:
- Opens door for guests arriving and departing.
- Walk guests to their table while engaging them in conversation.
- Highlight menu items or specials for the guest after seating them.
- Accommodates any special needs of guests, i.e., boosters, highchairs, disabilities.
- Manages the Wait List when the restaurant is full.
- Provides guest assistance to servers as needed.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area and completes cleaning as assigned.
- Fills out the Specials Board.
- Changes out old menus and replenishes kid menus.
- Maintains clean windows.
- Checks restrooms and alerts Carside.
- Guest readiness duties including stocking, cleaning host and foyer area, clearing tables, rolling silver, and maintaining overall dining room and foyer presentation. If any of the Guest readiness duties your job entails takes up more than 15% of your time it is your responsibility to inform a manager immediately.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Qualification Standards:
- Reading, writing, and basic math and verbal communication skills required.
- Communicate effectively with guests in person and on the phone.
- Mobility required during entire shift.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and exert a well-paced mobility for periods up to four (4) hours in length.
- Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests and other employees.
- Transports and carries objects (such as high-chair) up to 15 pounds up to 15 times a shift.
- Ability to wipe down table tops, table legs, pick up debris off the floor and wipe down booth seats in all areas of the restaurant.
Work Environment:
- May occasionally walk on slippery surfaces
- Noise level may be frequently loud
