Basic Function: To perform assigned carpentry and painting projects and conduct maintenance duties within hotels and on hotel grounds.

Essential Duties

• Light carpentry work to include repairing plaster and drywall, interior painting, and assisting with renovations/remodels. Works with UniSea Facilities Maintenance Department on repairs requiring their assistance.
• Performs light plumbing duties including replacing plumbing fixtures, caulking tubs and clearing clogged drains.
• Sidewalk and walkway snow removal with use of snow blower/shovel. Assists in coordination of parking lot snow removal.
• Light gardening including use of lawn mower/weed whacker to maintain hotel grounds. Plant bedding plants in the spring.
• Purchases approved project materials and supplies from local venders.
• Provide well-arranged documentation of work tasks and contributes to overall record keeping effort.
• Interacts with Hotel guest in courteous and professional manner.
• Insures tools are properly stored and job site is cleaned up when projects are completed.
• Plans future projects taking into consideration flow of business and seasonal weather.
• Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with company policy by closely monitoring the safe use of equipment and work habits in and around the work area Responsible for staying abreast of current company policies as they relate to safety, environmental issues, etc.

Position Specifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. (1, 30)

Experience:

Minimum of 0-1 year experience. Must be able to follow directions and work independently on occasion. Written and verbal communication skills necessary. (1, 40) Must successfully complete the HRA ammonia training course in 30 days. Must successfully complete the UniSea Forklift driver training program.

Analysis

& Creativity:

Largely repetitive work; specified practices limit analysis and ingenuity. (1, 30)

Organizing:

Very limited range. Planning on a daily basis with little variation in load. (1, 30)

Contacts:

Contact with members within the department and outside the department and/or company on routine matters. (2, 40)

Conditions:

Frequent (over 50%) exposure to undesirable elements with several continuously present. (4, 40)
