Justice Resource Institute is seeking a full-time Housing Search and Advocacy Coordinator to work across several housing programs to coordinate access to resources and affordable housing opportunities.

What We Need:

A caring human services professional who can:

  • Work across Housing Programs to assist teams and case managers in identifying and filling community-based housing opportunities with clients of Housing Programs.
  • Network with landlords, community groups, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to locate available and affordable housing opportunities in the Boston area.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for new clients of JRI Housing programs. Provide a trauma-informed, welcoming, and professional “front door to housing” at JRI.
  • Work directly with the Director of Housing Programs to manage subsidy waitlists and distribute housing subsidies and other housing opportunities in a manner that is equitable and efficient.
  • Assist clients on Housing waitlists and others looking for assistance in housing search and advocacy in accessing other housing resources, including assisting in completing documents for Housing Works database and applying for affordable housing opportunities when available.
  • Search out available community resources and supports. Advocate and make appropriate referrals for assistance and support. Provide follow-up to individual clients around referrals. Collaborate with other service providers and case managers to ensure continuity of services.

What You Have:

  • Experience working with populations that have histories of homelessness, low income and mental health/substance use disorders;
  • Proven commitment to issues of racial justice;
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent life experience;
  • Bilingual/ Bicultural preferred;
  • Experience in housing search and advocacy;
  • Must be self-directed, team-oriented and flexible;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • A commitment to health equity including proven ability to work with populations disproportionately impacted by social and racial injustice including communities of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, active substance users, homeless individuals, linguistic minorities.
