Pierce County’s Only Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC); Comprehensive Life Resources is looking for a qualified Housing Support Specialist to join our team in Tacoma, WA.

Function
: Function: Work with the community to develop housing resources for individuals referred to the program. Develop strong landlord relationships to support on-going housing and connection to community resources.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide case management with an emphasis on enhancing access to and retention in permanent supported housing.
  • Provide education and advocacy around understanding culture-wide stigma and discrimination against people with mental illness and develop strategies to eliminate stigma and support participation in consumer self-help programs and consumer advocacy organizations that promote recovery
  • Develop relationships with local landlords and potential places of employment agencies
  • Assist team members in working with participants to find and maintain the type of housing they desire. This may include assisting in landlord negotiations, finding a roommate, cleaning, furnishing, decorating and procuring necessities.
  • Coordinate services with other mental health and allied providers
  • Assist participants in identifying the type and location of housing with an exploration of access to natural supports and the avoidance of triggers
  • Maintain clinical records
  • Be available for consult and crisis outreach as appropriate or needed.
  • Perform health and safety checks of apartments as required.
  • Serve and post notices approved by Management related to housing
  • Be a part of a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate services. This includes attending regular team meetings, consultations, and trainings as needed or required.
  • Ensure that ethical and professional standards of practice are maintained.
  • In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • All new hires will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination
  • Must have experience with housing and knowledge of local Pierce County resources. A Bachelors degree is preferred but not required.
  • Must have ability to obtain Agency Affiliation Credential from Department of Health
  • Must have computer/technology skills
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license; proof of insurance.
