Overview:

Singer Equipment Co. is seeking an energetic and motivated individual who will bring immediate added value to our evolving Human Resources department. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing team and to develop skills for growth in the field of Human Resources. The HR Generalist reports to the HR Director and is responsible for providing leadership and support for employees located in MA., NH., NY., and VT, working primarily from the Agawam, MA office with travel to the other offices in the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with recruiting including, but not limited to, internal postings, on-site interviews and onboarding of new employees
  • Assist employees with interpretation company policies pertaining to employee conduct, harassment and discrimination prevention procedures. In conjunction with the HR Director conduct appropriate investigations and adequate corrective actions to resolve complaints.
  • Responsible for managing unemployment administration and separations.
  • Coordinate employee leaves of absences consistent with FMLA and ADA compliance requirements.
  • Track leaves of absences, discipline, terminations ,etc. relative to the site location.
  • Ensure compliance in various areas including required postings by state and location.
  • Assist in the compilation of required data for Affirmative Action & EEO-1 reporting purposes and prepare and submit various reports.
  • Partner with management on Performance Management Program activities including annual performance appraisals, coaching, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary action and employment terminations.
  • Liaison between Corporate HR to understand employee and management concerns.
  • Assist with leadership training to ensure managers and supervisors have necessary training to manage employees effectively consistent with company culture, established policies and procedures and legal compliance.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives and provide general support to HR as needed, other assigned duties as requested.
  • Provide relative information for various reports that are significant to key stakeholders with accuracy and attention to detail.

Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in an exempt level HR role. Experience in sales and distribution businesses preferred.
  • Strong functional knowledge of core HR disciplines, systems, and processes.
  • Knowledge of specialized regulatory areas (EEOC, ADA, FMLA, DOL etc.) to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and industry regulations. Must possess strong working knowledge of New Jersey and New York state employment laws.
  • Strong MS Office skills and proficiency with HRIS and Applicant Tracking and Benefits Systems.
  • Willing to travel up to 30% of the time to other offices in the region

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
